Step into a race against time! My Sporting Heritage is an adventure-packed escape game where you and your team must solve clever puzzles, crack codes, and uncover Europe’s greatest sporting moments — before they vanish forever.
Using the web app, you’ll track your countdown, unlock hints, and discover clues that lead you to new puzzle cards. Each victory earns you a token of sporting heritage, bringing you one step closer to saving the future of sport.
Your mission? Collect all 8 tokens within one hour — or risk losing the game (and history itself)!

How to Play
Overview
My Sporting Heritage is a team-based escape game designed for ages 11–14. It blends physical puzzle cards with a web application to create an engaging, time-bound challenge that promotes collaboration, critical thinking, and cultural learning.
Materials Needed:
- Escape Game: My Sporting Heritage card deck (50 cards per group).
- Internet-connected device (tablet, smartphone, or computer).
- Access to the web app (used for time tracking, hints, and token rewards).
- Optional: pens, paper, or whiteboard for team notes.
Game Setup:
1. Divide the group into teams of 2 to 6 players.
2. Give each team a full set of 50 cards.
3. Make sure each team has a device with internet access.
4. Open the web app and help teams start their 40-minute countdown.
How It Works:
- Teams begin with the Start Card, which introduces the theme and opens first cards.
- After solving a puzzle, they enter the solution in the web app.
- Correct answers unlock the next card and award a heritage token.
- Teams continue solving puzzles and collecting tokens until they have all 8 tokens — or until time runs out.
Support and Guidance:
- Facilitators can monitor teams’ progress via the web app.
- Each puzzle has a tiered hint system to help players when they’re stuck.
- Encourage players to communicate, collaborate, and rotate roles within their team (reader, thinker, checker, note-taker, etc.).
- Focus on process over speed - it’s not just about winning, but learning through play.

Instructions for Players
How to Play:
1. Form a Team
Gather 2 to 6 players and form your dream team. You’ll need brainpower, teamwork, and curiosity!
2. Start the Clock
Open the web app and hit Start. You have 45 minutes to complete your mission and collect 8 heritage tokens.
3. Draw Your First Card
Begin with the “Start here”. It holds game introduction and information about the first set of cards that need to be drawn. Read everything carefully - clues might be hidden in plain sight!
4. Solve the Puzzle
Work as a team to crack the puzzle. If you're stuck, use the web app to get hints.
5. Earn a Token
When you solve a puzzle by entering code in the web app – the game will reward you with a heritage token and tell you which card to draw next. Be aware that entering wrong codes adds penalty time.
6. Continue Your Mission
Each card leads to a new challenge. Each token brings you closer to victory.
7. Win the Game
Collect all 8 tokens before the time runs out to close the rift and save Europe’s sporting heritage!
Tips for Champions:
- Stay calm (even under pressure).
- Think outside the box. Some puzzles are tricky!
- Communicate with your team - every voice matters.
- Keep track of clues and tokens.
- Have fun with your team-mates.
